About This Spot

Stepping into Serenade feels like unfolding a quiet story by the waterfront—a gentle pause amid the bustle of Tsim Sha Tsui. Situated on the upper floors of the Hong Kong Cultural Centre, the restaurant offers a spacious and calm refuge where the restless city seems to soften just a little. The mood here is unhurried, inviting you to settle in and savor moments as much as flavors.

There’s a thoughtful rhythm to the experience. Busy conversations hum in the background, the clinking of teacups punctuates soft laughter, and outside, Victoria Harbour glimmers quietly through large windows. Serenade embraces a refined approach to Cantonese dining that honors tradition while welcoming subtle, unexpected details — reflected in the presentation of each dim sum, crafted with care and an eye toward beauty as much as taste.

Sharing a meal here feels like an intimate pause with friends or family, where close gatherings find room both in the seating and in the atmosphere. The dim sum offerings range from familiar comforting bites to imaginative treats that surprise without overwhelming. Waiting for your turn at the table, you might watch a lobster noodle arrive at a nearby one, its rich aroma teasing the senses, or notice the delicate mango pudding shaped like koi fish — touches that hint at the kitchen’s blend of heart and craft.

Serenade carries the sense of a locale that’s cherished by those who know it well: a blend of locals choosing familiar dishes, occasional tourists soaking in the harbour view, and groups drawn by its understated elegance and open spaces. It’s a place where you might come early to avoid the evening crowd, knowing that the pace of service gently sways with the ebb and flow of diners, and where reservations feel like an attentive nod to the restaurant’s quiet popularity.

Whether the charm lies in a quiet soup savoring, a perfectly folded dumpling, or the soft golden glow of the restaurant against the twilight harbour, Serenade unfolds as a small discovery — a gentle serenade to Cantonese culinary tradition wrapped in the pulse of Hong Kong’s vibrant shore.

This place is a member of the Maxim's group. The prices were not cheap except for those with credit card discounts.

The Lobster Noodle (龍蝦伊麵)is really delicious. The five years Shaoxing wine(古越龍山花雕)tasted great and matched well with seafood. The restaurant is located in the tourist spot near the Star Ferry in Kowloon. Friday evening is full house and crowded. Waiters and waitress are short of service.

Quiet environment. Spacious seating. Good for friends gathering. The dim sum dishes in general were delicious and tasty. There were lots of traditional and fusion food. The pork liver dumplings however were a bit lousy, overcooked and tasteless. The fish maw soup dumplings were the best. Love this restaurant by the harbour. Not too crowded. Will come back again.

Lunch dim sum. By the sea. Made luxurious. I think many would associate dim sum with some lower price offerings, often times volume over quality. But at the same time, there is a market for dim sum as it is - in the Chinese saying - “touching the heart”? The dim sum here was presented lovingly, and very beautifully. Almost too painful to eat. Mouthfuls later, however, I can say that they are delicious as well. High recommendations for the Cha Shu Sou.
